The benefits of a wrap towel for your baby
Why is a wrap towel so nice?
Wrap towel, wrap cloth or wrap blanket, we use these terms interchangeably but they mean the same thing. It is a diamond-shaped cloth with a hood at the top where you can snuggle your baby. They come in different types of fabric, and both with and without a lining. Some even have a slit in the middle for the belts of, for example, the bouncer or car seat to pass through.
When do you use the wrap?
The wrap towel is perhaps one of the most versatile products to add to your baby outfit. You wrap your baby in it for extra warmth and security. This can be done in the pram, the playpen or on the sofa while feeding or cuddling. It is also an ideal item in the bouncer or in the 0+ car seat because your little one cannot kick it off, which is the case with a blanket. The head is also nicely covered against drafts, wind or cold.
What are the different wraps?
Koeka makes wrapping cloths in two different sizes, 100x100 cm and 105x100 cm. Both sizes are the sizes of the cloth measured diagonally. The wraps with size 105x100 are made of fabrics that do not contain stretch and the 100x100cm cloths do contain some stretch. One is not better than the other. It's all about your own preference and fabric with a bit of stretch gives your child a bit more freedom of movement than a fabric without stretch.
Then, of course, there is a wide choice of fabrics and colours. So how do you choose the right one for your little one? The fabric on the outside of the wrap is purely a matter of taste. So choose a fabric and colour that matches the rest of your baby outfit or that you yourself like. The lining of the cloth determines how warm it is and whether or not it absorbs moisture. We recommend a wrap with a teddy lining for autumn and winter. For spring and summer, you can choose a wrap lined with stretch terry cloth or an unlined wrap. The stretch terry cloth can absorb some moisture and is therefore nice if your little one sweats easily. An unlined cloth is wonderfully airy. Again, choose what you like or buy a wrap with teddy for the colder months and an unlined or stretch terry lined wrap for the warmer months.
All Koeka wrap blankets have a slot in the middle. This is especially for the crotch strap of the bouncer, Maxi-Cosi or car seat.
What is the difference between and shawl and a bath cape?
A wrap towel is used as an extra layer to keep your little one nice and warm or to provide extra security by wrapping your baby in it. The purpose of the wrap is therefore comfort and warmth.
A bath cape is really used for drying off. You wrap your child in it after bathing to keep him or her nice and warm. Once on the changing table, you use the bath cape to dry off comfortably. The bath cape therefore does not have a slot in the middle for the car seat or bouncer because it is generally not used in those.
